We have been really busy this week with work, Josh’s birthday, and house stuff. I am happy the weekend is here. Josh doesn’t work on Wednesday s and I took a half day so we could hang out together for his birthday. Josh spent a little bit of the morning with my Uncle Adrian. Then, we went to Adam’s Ribs for lunch (which is a great smokehouse for sandwiches and the such and the owner is a Christian) then ran around town looking at lighting, carpet, bathroom fixtures, glass, and granite for the house. Josh usually does his shopping research on Wednesdays and since I had the day off, he wanted to show me some things. We celebrated that night by going out to McGrath’s for a steak and crab dinner. I think it is one of our favorite places in town - partially because of the name! :)
So, it seems as though the celebrations have been stretched to last several days. Sarah was here last week, we had our private party Wednesday, and the office celebrated with a cake today. Paul gave Josh a card & I thought it was pretty funny… on the front it read, “Yes, today is your birthday! Return to us now to that fateful day when the stork who delivered you said to your mother… (& on the inside) Look, Lady, I just deliver’em. I don’t explain’em!”
Please keep us in your prayers regarding the house. We had a little scare Monday and we thought our financing wasn’t going to go through. Everything is fine now, but please pray that God would give us peace during the last couple of weeks before the closing on the construction loan… and that we would trust Him in all things and that He is in control – cuz we know we aren’t!
We break ground on the house tomorrow! Hooray for Gary! Our friend Gary is coming out and is going to start the excavation (which means he is going make the ground level and ready to build on). Josh and I are going to head over to the lot in the morning to confirm some things and then of course be there for the big moment.
We were planning on heading to Multnomah Falls tomorrow for a day of exploring and hiking (part of Josh’s birthday present) but the weather doesn’t seem to think it is summer. It had been sprinkling on and off today and the weather report keeps changing! Yesterday, it said today and tomorrow was supposed to be in the high 70s to the low 80s. We it looks as that kind of weather won’t be here til next weekend (perfect for when Josh’s parents are in town). So, instead, we are going to tour Marion & Polk Counties 2007 Tour of Homes. The tour exhibits some 30 or so homes. If you are curious to see what they are like go to www.2007tourofhomes.com Paul told us about the tour since he thought it would be good for us to see some of the new products being used and perhaps we can get some design ideas. The tour is only going on for 9 days.
